Apple Croccantini Tart
A lovely sweet treat combining the crunch of Croccantini with the unbeatable pairing of apples and caramel.
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
Juice from 1/2 lemon
3 apples (pick your favorite type!), cored, halved, and cut into thin slices
1/4 cup pecans, chopped
- Preheat oven to 425F. While oven is preheating, combine apples with brown sugar, salt, and lemon juice in a medium bowl, and toss thoroughly to make certain that all the apples are completely covered.
- Lay out full-size Croccantini on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover Croccantini with apple slices, arranging them in overlapping rows. Put in oven, and bake until apples become tender, and Croccantini become golden brown on the edges, between 5-10 minutes, checking regularly to make sure they don’t burn.
- Remove from oven, and immediately place on serving platter. Top with chopped pecans, and drizzle with caramel sauce.
